Two individuals were killed in a fatal road accident early on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) after a speeding lorry rammed into several vehicles parked along the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway near the Nalgonda X Road flyover.

The accident was reported around 2.30 a.m. when a Mojo Travels bus, which was on its way from Hyderabad to Kakinada, and a Gujarat-registered lorry, moving from Kutch in Gujarat to Rajahmundry, reportedly brushed against each other while attempting to overtake. Both vehicles then stopped along the side of the flyover and their drivers stepped out to discuss the matter.

Shortly afterwards, another Mojo Travels bus travelling on the same route arrived at the spot. Its drivers, identified as Srinivas and Bangarayya, also stepped down and joined the discussion between the drivers.

At that moment, a lorry travelling from Hyderabad towards Vijayawada approached at high speed in a rash and negligent manner and crashed into the stationary Gujarat-registered lorry. The impact crushed people who were standing between the vehicles.

While Srinivas and Bangarayya died on the spot, Suresh, cleaner of the first bus, sustained severe injuries.

Upon receiving the information, officials from the Narketpally police station rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured person was shifted to a hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the Nalgonda Government Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The damaged vehicles were later shifted to the police station and traffic on the flyover was cleared without major disruption.

The accused lorry driver left the vehicle behind and absconded. A case has been booked and efforts are now underway to trace him.
