“The United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island,” Mr. Trump said on social media.

An Israeli strike on a primary healthcare centre in southern Lebanon killed at least 12 medical personnel, the Lebanese health ministry said on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

In a statement, the ministry said it “mourns the healthcare workers in Burj Qalawiya who were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the town’s primary healthcare centre”, adding that “12 doctors, paramedics and nurses on duty at the centre were killed, and one healthcare worker was injured” while rescue operations were still ongoing.

Canada will support the International ‌Energy Agency’s oil release with 23.6 million barrels ⁠from domestic producers, Energy Minister Tim Hodgson said on Friday (March 14, 2026).

The IEA has agreed to release a record ‌400 million barrels of oil ‌from ⁠strategic stockpiles held ⁠by member nations to combat a spike in prices since the start of the ‌U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.

“We will support this collective action with 23.6 million Canadian barrels, ‌produced by our industry and co-ordinated with the federal and provincial governments,” ⁠Mr. Hodgson said in a statement.

“Our natural gas exports will also ‌expand in the coming months, providing additional fuel to allies around the world,” he added.

Iran launched a fresh round of missiles towards Israel, state media reported just after midnight on Saturday (March 14, 2026) in Tehran, but Israeli rescue workers said there were no reported casualties following the strikes.

Israel’s military said it had identified missiles from Iran and “was operating to intercept the threat,” as air raid sirens in multiple areas sent people into shelters.

Less than 30 minutes after the launch alert, the military’s Home Front Command issued a notice allowing people to leave their shelters.

Israeli shells hit a United Nations peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon on Friday (March 13, 2026), state media reported, as Israel and Hezbollah fought their latest war.

“Israeli shells fell inside the headquarters of UNIFIL forces’ Nepalese battalion, in the town of Mays al-Jabal,” Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported, referring to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

UNIFIL and the Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.

Israel said that its strike this week on a campus of Lebanon’s public university killed a Hezbollah leader with expertise in making weapons.

Lebanese state media said on Thursday (March 12, 2026) that two academics were killed in the strike, including a professor it named as Mortada Srour.

Israel’s military said Srour was “employed as a chemistry lecturer at the Lebanese University in Beirut”. It also described him as “a leading figure and an expert in the field of weapons manufacturing within (Hezbollah).”

Police in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi said on Saturday (March 14, 2026) they had arrested 45 people, including foreigners, for “spreading misinformation and filming and sharing event locations” as Iran continued to strike the Gulf.

“The Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department arrested 45 individuals of various nationalities for filming different locations during ongoing events and posting them on social media platforms,” the police said.

“They were also accused of spreading inaccurate and misleading information, which could incite public opinion and spread rumours within the community,” they added.

The U.S. military said on Friday (March 13, 2026) it has elevated the investigation into a devastating February 28 strike on an Iranian girls’ school after media reports revealed the probe shows ‌U.S. forces were likely responsible.

Iran has said the strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh School killed 168 children. If U.S. fault is confirmed, it would rank among the worst incidents of civilian deaths in decades of ⁠U.S. military strikes in the Middle East. Reuters first reported the investigation’s initial findings on March 5.

Citing the seriousness of the matter, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declined to comment on the preliminary finding of the investigation, saying: “We’re not going to let reporting lead us or force our hand ‌into indicating what happened.”

Two Indian nationals lost their lives in an attack in Oman’s Sohar amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday (March 13, 2026).

“We lost two Indian nationals today in an attack in Sohar, Oman in the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Several other Indian nationals were also injured. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Our Mission in Oman is in touch with the local authorities as well as the employer company and is extending all possible assistance,” Mr. Jaiswal wrote on X.

Roughly 2,500 Marines and at least one amphibious assault ship are headed for West Asia, a U.S. official told AP.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military plans, said elements from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli have been ordered to the region.

The move marks a major addition of troops to the region.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said his group was ready for a long confrontation with Israel, as the two sides fought another war in Lebanon which he considered “existential”.

“We have prepared ourselves for a long confrontation, and God willing, they (Israelis) will be surprised on the battlefield,” Mr. Qassem said in his second televised address since the latest war began, adding that “the enemy’s threats do not frighten us”.

Around 100 sailors from the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Lavan, which has been docked at Kochi port since March 4, is learnt to have flown out of Kochi airport by a chartered flight on Friday (March 13, 2026) around 7 p.m.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced on Friday (March 13, 2026) that they had launched missiles and drones at Israel in coordination with Tehran’s Lebanese ally Hezbollah.

The Guards said in a statement that the operation was part of its annual Quds Day, which is intended to show support for the Palestinian cause. They said its navy and aerospace force, the Iranian army and Hezbollah “jointly and synergistically carried out the 45th wave of Operation Honest Promise 4 on Friday evening”.

It said Iranian missiles and Hezbollah drones targeted Haifa, Caesarea, Zar’it and Shlomi as well as the “military-industrial complex” in Holon.

According to the statement, the Guards’ navy and the Iranian army also targeted U.S. bases in Erbil, northern Iraq and Al Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates.

Iran’s military has destroyed 111 enemy drones since the start of its war with U.S.-Israel, the Revolutionary Guard’s Sepah News portal reported on Friday (March 13, 2026).

It said the Guards had destroyed an MQ-9 over Fars province and another aircraft in Tabriz, meaning “the total number of drones destroyed so far is 111 of various types”.

It did not provide a breakdown of how many were cheap, one-way explosive drones versus more sophisticated multi-use aircraft such as the MQ-9.

Of the 28 Indian-flagged ships in the Persian Gulf-Gulf of Oman region that had stopped moving with the start of the West Asia conflict on February 28, one oil tanker, Jag Prakash, has started moving, a senior government official said on Friday (March 13, 2026).

Jag Prakash, an oil products tanker with a carrying capacity of 48,000 tonnes cargo and owned by Great Eastern Shipping Company, was among the four ships stranded east of the Strait of Hormuz. This means it did not have to cross the strait that the newly-elected Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said must remain closed. Jag Prakash loaded at Sohar port in Oman and its destination is Tanzania.

Three more Indian-flagged cargo ships with 76 seafarers on board are still located in the Gulf of Oman, while the 24 ships inside the Persian Gulf west of the Strait of Hormuz continue to remain stranded, according to officials.

Twenty-seven Indian-flagged ships remain stranded in the Persian Gulf amid conflict, while one tanker has resumed its journey.

The Israeli military said on Friday (March 13, 2026) it had carried out around 7,600 strikes in Iran and 1,100 in Lebanon since launching its joint operation with the United States against Tehran.

The military said that some 2,000 of the strikes had targeted “headquarters and assets of the Iranian terror regime”, and roughly 4,700 were against the Islamic republic’s missile programme.

In Lebanon, it said it had struck 200 “missile and launcher targets” and around 35 command-and-control sites of the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, and killed “more than 380 Hezbollah terrorists”.

Israeli strikes have killed at least 773 people since March 2, the Lebanese Health Ministry said on Friday (March 13, 2026), as Israel vowed that Lebanon will pay an “increasing price” in damage to infrastructure.

A U.S. aerial refuelling aircraft crashed in western Iraq, killing all six crew members, the U.S. military said Friday (March 13, 2026), adding that the incident was not caused by “hostile fire.”

Israeli planes dropping propaganda leaflets over Beirut on Friday (March 13, 2026) caused a number of loud booms in the sky, terrifying residents of the Lebanese capital.

AFP correspondents heard four successive booms at short intervals before clouds of paper leaflets appeared high in the air.

State media said the noise was “caused by Israeli aircraft flying at a very low altitude and dropping leaflets over a number of areas, specifically in Verdun, Hamra, and Ain al-Mreisseh”, western Beirut neighbourhoods.

One of the leaflets, addressed to the Lebanese people, said, “You must disarm Hezbollah, Iran’s shield,” and “Lebanon is your decision, not someone else’s.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a “tactically complex environment”, top U.S. military officer General Dan Caine said Friday (March 13, 2026), acknowledging the difficulty in acting on plans to escort traffic safely through the strategic waterway.

“It’s a tactically complex environment. Before, I think, we want to take anything through there at scale, we want to make sure that we do the work pursuant to our current military objectives,” Mr. Caine said.

Türkiye’s Defence Ministry on Friday (March 13, 2026) said a ballistic missile from Iran had been shot down in Turkish airspace by NATO forces in the third such incident of the West Asia war.

“A ballistic munition launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was neutralised by NATO air and missile defence assets deployed in the eastern Mediterranean,” a Ministry statement said.

French President Emmanuel Macron Friday (March 13, 2026) said Russia was “mistaken” if it thought the West Asia war would ease pressure on it after Washington partially rolled back sanctions against Moscow to cool oil prices.

U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said Friday (March 13, 2026) he believes Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is wounded.

“We know the new so-called, not-so-supreme leader is wounded and likely disfigured,” Hegseth told a press conference.

Mr. Khamenei issued a written statement on Thursday (March 13, 2026) but has remained in hiding since taking over from his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a bombing at the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran on February 28. Iranian officials have confirmed the new leader is wounded but have given no further detail.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Israel and Hezbollah to “stop the war” at the start of a visit to Beirut, saying it is “no longer the time of armed groups”.

“My strong appeal to those parties, to Hezbollah and to Israel, is for a ceasefire to stop the war and... allow Lebanon to become a country independent... where its authorities have the monopoly on use of force,” Mr. Guterres said in English from the presidential palace, as Lebanon entered its 11th day of war.

“This is no longer the time of armed groups,” Mr. Guterres said, in reference to the pro-Iran militant group Hezbollah. “This is the time of strong states.”

An Israeli strike killed eight people in a south Lebanese village near the port city of Sidon on Friday (March 13, 2026), according to the health ministry, which added that nine others had been wounded.

An AFP photographer on the scene saw paramedics working to evacuate people from the targeted building in the village of Miyeh w Miyeh. The building is part of a complex, most of whose residents are Palestinians.

Deadly explosions rocked Tehran close to a pro-government rally attended by top officials on Friday (March 13, 2026), as Israel and Iran unleashed fresh strikes in a war that has ignited West Asia and threatens to torpedo the world economy.

Iran’s state media said at least one person was killed when blasts hit an area near a pro-government demonstration, where large crowds had gathered waving flags and brandishing banners reading “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”

Deadly blast rocks Iran as leaders attend rally in show of defiance

A deadly blast in Tehran disrupts a pro-government rally as tensions rise amid ongoing Israel-Iran conflict and economic turmoil.

ASEAN Foreign and Economic Ministers on Friday called for an immediate halt to the war in the ‌West Asia, and said the effects of surging oil prices and disrupted trade are already hitting ⁠Southeast Asia’s economies.

Several members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have begun rolling out measures to counter the economic impact, ‌with governments moving quickly to conserve energy, stabilise domestic markets and protect vulnerable sectors such as tourism.

“We ‌expressed serious concern over the situation in the Middle ‌East ⁠and its impacts in the region, and ⁠emphasised the importance of the immediate cessation of hostilities,” Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro told a press conference after a special meeting on the crisis, adding that ‌ASEAN called on all parties to exercise the utmost self-restraint.

The Philippines, which is chairing ASEAN this year, convened the special meeting as concerns over the Iran conflict deepened. The Ministers ‌called for global energy supply chains to be kept open and to activate regional mechanisms to mitigate the economic fallout.

Four of the six crew members aboard a U.S. military aircraft that ‌crashed in western Iraq are confirmed to have been killed, the ⁠U.S. military said on Friday, as rescue efforts continued for the remaining two.

A U.S. military ‌refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq on Thursday, in an incident ‌the military said involved another aircraft ‌but ⁠was not the result of ⁠hostile or friendly fire.

The deaths add to the seven U.S. service members who have already been killed as part ‌of U.S. operations against Iran.

“The circumstances of the incident are under investigation. However, the loss of the aircraft was ‌not due to hostile fire or friendly fire,” a statement from U.S. Central Command said. 

An explosion was heard and windows were shaken overnight near the Incirlik military base in southern Turkey ‌where U.S. troops and others are stationed, according to a Reuters ⁠witness and social media footage.

NATO air defences stationed in the eastern Mediterranean Sea have ‌in the last week intercepted two ballistic missiles fired from Iran ‌towards Turkey amid the U.S. ‌and ⁠Israeli war on Iran.

NATO has ⁠since beefed up its ballistic missile defences in the region, deploying a U.S. Patriot air defence system to ‌the southeastern Turkish province of Malatya to increase defence at a radar base there used by the alliance.

Social media ‌footage appeared to show a projectile flying in the night sky near the Incirlik Air Base ⁠in Adana province.

A large explosion struck Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Friday at a square filled with demonstrators, Iranian state television reported.

The explosion hit Ferdowsi Square, just down Enghelab Street from Tehran University, the epicenter of ongoing Quds, or Jerusalem, Day demonstrations.

The cause of the blast was not immediately known. Israel had warned it could strike in the area just before the blast.

Intense airstrikes began landing around Tehran just before rallies were to begin for the annual Quds Day event in support of Palestinians. Despite the attacks, thousands of people took to the streets chanting “death to Israel” and “death to America.”

The U.S. embassy in Baghdad has warned of a “risk of kidnapping” for its citizens in Iraq, as the West Asia war threatens American interests across the region.

“Iran and Iran-aligned terrorist militia groups pose a significant threat to public safety in Iraq,” the Embassy said in a statement on its website on Thursday.

“There have been attacks against U.S. citizens, U.S. interests, and critical infrastructure,” it said, adding: “Americans also face risk of kidnapping.”

Last week the U.S. urged its nationals to leave Iraq, after it launched strikes with Israel against Iran on February 28.

Sri Lanka is repatriating on Friday the remains of 84 Iranian sailors who perished when their frigate was sunk nine days ago by a U.S. submarine, the Foreign Ministry said.

The seamen were killed when IRIS Dena was torpedoed on March 4 just off the coast of Sri Lanka, in a move that extended the West Asia war to the Indian Ocean.

“All domestic procedures have been completed, and the Iranians are bringing a chartered aircraft for the repatriation,” spokesman Thushara Rodrigo told AFP.

“The 32 sailors who were rescued by our navy will remain in Sri Lanka.”

The Israeli military on Friday warned it would strike two areas in the Iranian capital Tehran, Villa and Moniriyeh, and told residents to evacuate.

“In the coming hours, the IDF will operate in these areas, as it has in recent days across Iran, to strike military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime. Dear citizens, for your safety and well-being, we ask that you immediately evacuate the marked area,” the army posted on its Persian-language account on X, attaching maps of the affected neighbourhoods.

An American military refueling plane taking part in the operation against Iran crashed in Iraq and rescue efforts were underway, U.S. Central Command said on Thursday.

It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties. A U.S. official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss the developing situation, said the KC-135 aircraft that crashed had at least five crew members aboard.

The crash was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire, the military said in a statement, which described the plane as “a loss.”

U.S. Central Command, which oversees West Asia, said that two aircraft were involved and that one landed safely and the other went down in western Iraq.

A second U.S. official, who similarly spoke on condition of anonymity, said the other plane involved also was a KC-135 tanker.

The Red Cross Society ‌of China will provide $2,00,000 in ⁠emergency humanitarian aid to the Iranian Red ‌Crescent Society, specifically for ‌condolences and relief ‌to ⁠parents of ⁠the students who have been killed in ‌the conflict, China’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

“China ‌condemns all indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military ⁠targets,” China’s Foreign Ministry ‌spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a daily press briefing.

Beijing is prepared ‌to provide further necessary assistance to Iran and ⁠support for the ⁠Iranian people, Mr. Guo said.

Protests broke out on Friday in some Shia-dominated areas of Kashmir, including Magam and Budgam, against the U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran, officials said.

Apprehending the protests on the last Friday of Ramzan, restrictions were imposed this morning in Srinagar and other parts of the valley, especially the Shia-dominated areas.

The restrictions on the assembly of people were imposed in the morning as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order in view of the likelihood of protests, the officials said.

The protesters shouted slogans against the U.S. and Israel aggression in Iran, and in support of Palestine, they said.

However, the officials added that the protests remained peaceful so far.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed Pakistan’s “full solidarity” with Saudi Arabia as the West Asia crisis escalates.

The meeting was held on Thursday after PM Sharif dashed to Saudi Arabia in the wake of deteriorating situation in West Asia following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

A statement by the PM Office after the meeting and shared on X by PM’s spokesperson for foreign media Mosharraf Zaidi in early hours of Friday stated that the Prime Minister “held a restricted meeting” with the Saudi de facto ruler Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah.

“The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in these challenging times,” it stated.

Both leaders had an in depth exchange of views on the recent developments in the region and agreed to work together for regional peace and stability. “The Prime Minister assured his royal host that Pakistan would always stand firmly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and strive for their mutual desire for peace in the region,” it said.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the ideological arm of the country’s military, warned on Friday that any new protests against the authorities would be met with a stronger response than in January, when several thousand people were killed.

“The evil enemy, failing to achieve its field battle goals, is once again pursuing the instillation of fear and street riots,” the Guards said in a statement broadcast on TV, promising “a stronger blow than on January 8” in the event of new unrest.

The warning comes two weeks into Iran’s war with the United States and Israel in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says one of the aims is to “create, for the Iranian people, the conditions to bring down” the Iranian government.

U.S. President Donald Trump has also called for Iranians to rise up and overthrow their government.

Sirens wailed early on Friday (March 13) at Turkey’s Incirlik airbase, a key NATO facility where US troops are stationed near the southern city of Adana, state news agency Anadolu reported.

There was no immediate official comment on the incident, which took place four days after NATO air defences shot down a ballistic missile in Turkish airspace that was fired from Iran, the second in five days.

Residents of Adana, which lies 10 kilometres (six miles) from the base, were woken up at 3:25 am (0025 GMT) by sirens, which sounded for around five minutes, according to the Ekonomim business news website.

An AFP correspondent described hearing a huge double blast that rattled buildings and left a large cloud of black smoke hanging over a central district.

“Authorities confirmed that debris from a successful interception caused a minor incident on the facade of a building in central Dubai,” the media office posted on X, adding that no injuries were reported.

U.K. Defence Minister John Healey suggested on Thursday (March 12, 2026) that Russia was influencing Iran’s use of drone attacks in its war with the United States and Israel.

Mr. Healey said Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “hidden hand” may be behind some of the tactics deployed by Tehran in the West Asian conflict, which started when the United States and Israel struck Iran on February 28.

He told reporters that officials were analysing an Iranian-made drone that hit the U.K.’s Akrotiri air force base in Cyprus on March 1 “for any evidence of Russian or any other foreign components and parts”.

Qatar on Friday (March 13, 2026) condemned Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and said they considered the attacks a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
