Two Chennai specialists among winners of Sitaram Jaipuria healthcare awards

Two Chennai-based specialists were among the awardees of the 2026 Medical and Healthcare Excellence Awards by Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation. These awards recognise contributions to advancing healthcare and medical research across different medical specialities.

Thara Rangaswamy, co- founder and vice chair, Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), received the Smt. Gayatri Jaipuria Women’s Medicine and Healthcare Excellence Award, which honours women who have made seminal contributions to medicine and healthcare while mentoring future leaders in the field.

V. Mohan, chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre and chairman of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, was conferred the Shri Ashwini Kumar Award for Healthcare Excellence in Diabetes and Obesity Care for his contributions to advancing clinical care, research and innovation in diabetes management.

Both these awards carry a cash prize of ₹10 lakh. Instituted by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation, the honours aim to recognise healthcare professionals whose work has significantly impacted clinical practice, research, policy and public health in the country.
