The traffic on the National Highway 66 between Mangaluru and Udupi was hit after a tanker loaded with LPG overturned at Katpady, near Udupi, resulting in gas leakage on Monday. Police immediately diverted the traffic. Normalcy in traffic movement is likely to be restored after midnight.
The driver of the gas tanker, which belongs to HPCL, allegedly lost control over the vehicle. Soon after it overturned, gas began to leaking. HPCL officials who came to the spot started to transfer the gas to a new tanker. The police said the process of transferring the gas and shifting the overturned tanker are likely to be completed by midnight.
