Ugadi Mahotsavams begin at Srisailam

The five-day Ugadi Mahotsavams at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Srisailam began on Monday (March 16) on a religious note.

The Mahotsavams started with special poojas and rituals to Goddess Bhramaramba and Mallikarjuna Swamy as per agama sastras. Later, temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao, temple priests and vedic pundits performed the yagasala pravesam in traditional manner after which Veda Swasti, Siva Sankalpam, Ganapti Pooja, Chandeswara Pooja, Kankana Pooja, Kankana Dharana and other rituals were performed.

In the evening, Ankurarpana was performed by Mr. Srinivasa Rao and temple priests. Later, the processional idols of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy were taken out in a procession on Brungi Vahanam. Goddess Bhramaramba was adorned in Mahalakshmi Alankaram and gramotsavam performed amid traditional dances, Chenchu folk art performances and drum beats.

A large number of devotees had darshan on the first day of the festivities and the temple management made elaborate arrangements to meet the rush of devotees.
