The State Budget will be presented on March 20, and the session is scheduled to continue till March 30, with a total of 10 working days, as per the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Legislative Assembly that met on Monday.

During the BAC meeting, leaders of opposition parties objected to what they termed a ‘shortened and hurried’ session. Representatives of the Communist Party of India (CPI) demanded that the session be extended by at least 20 more days to allow detailed discussions on public issues.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) questioned the absence of the Question Hour in the current schedule and alleged that the government was attempting to restrict debate. BRS leader T. Harish Rao submitted a representation seeking discussion on 19 key public issues. He warned that if the government failed to accommodate their demands, they would consider boycotting the next BAC meeting.

Leader of the BJPLP A. Maheshwar Reddy pressed for a minimum of 30 days for the session, accusing the government of using the sessions to pass the budget and ignore public issues. The meeting was chaired by Speaker Gaddam Prasad and attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu, among others.
