Abhinay Deshpande

Abhinay Deshpande is the Gujarat Correspondent for The Hindu, where he focuses on compelling stories from the ‘GPS’ beat — Governance, Politics, and Society. He was previously Maharashtra State Correspondent, covering everything from political drama to social sagas—because if there’s one thing he’s learned, it’s that politics and Bollywood have equally unpredictable scripts.

After stints with three other publications, his journey with The Hindu began in 2017 in Hyderabad, Telangana, where he worked as a crime reporter.

Originally from Adilabad, a tribal-dominated district in North Telangana, Abhinay holds a degree in International Journalism from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

When not tracking political currents or governance trends, he’s often chasing trains—or flights— documenting his travels on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
